Melbourne: Newly-crowned heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been stripped off his IBF world heavyweight championship belt after he declined to face the organisation's mandatory title challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov.

The 27-year-old is now expected to face Wladimir Klitschko against whom he had won the IBF, WBA and WBO titles, news.com.au reported.

The IBF has now ordered Glazkov to face unbeaten American Charles Martin, thus creating a third world heavyweight champion. American Deontay Wilder is the WBC's champion.

Meanwhile, the British police have also initiated inquiry against Fury over his recent sexist remarks.

Confirming the news, a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokeswoman said that the force was taking the matter seriously and revealed that the boxer would be questioned in person before further investigation.

She also added that the complaint was reported by a member of the public as a 'hate crime' following fury's comments.

In a video interview, the controversial boxer was seen and heard saying, "I believe a woman's best place is in the kitchen and on her back, that's my personal belief. Making me a good cup of tea, that's what I believe."
