Following his cricket enterprise, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has now set foot into the world of motorsport, by becoming co-owner of the Mumbai franchise of the upcoming racing league, i1 Super Series.
Shah Rukh will be joint owner of the Mumbai franchise along with the Mehtas, who are his partners in the Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders.
The i1 Super Series, an initiative of Machdar Motorsports, is set to commence in January next year and is based on the city-based franchisee format to include nine teams, each comprising an Indian and international driver per car.
"We are thrilled to welcome Shah Rukh Khan to the i1 Super Series as the franchisee holder for Mumbai. He simple loved the concept," Machdar Motorsports director Anjana Reddy said.
