Vazirani tennis: Qualifiers on top

In a day of upsets, four seeds crashed out of the JV ParsramJunior Open All India Talent Series and Maharashtra state ranking tennis tournament at the Vazirani National Sports Academy in Nerul yesterday.

Qualifier Pratuimula Nanekar beat third seed Kyle Cummings of Goa 8-5 to advance to the boys’ U-12 quarter-finals.

Another qualifier, Mayank Joshi shocked fifth seed Ahaan Shah 7-4, while an unseeded Siddharth Jangbahadur stunned third seed Aditya Sriram by the same margin to enter the boys U-10 quarter-finals.

Thereafter, an unseeded Eshita Singh completed an ominous day for the seeds when she shocked No 8 Akanksha Nitture 8-3 to book her berth in the girls U-12 quarter-finals.u00a0
