The protests highlighted serious concerns regarding the rigging of NEET-UG examination. The alleged rigging and mismanagement during the exam have caused widespread outrage among students and their supporters, prompting demands for a fair re-evaluation.

Despite the protests focusing on student futures, the Delhi Police were more concerned with the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi, alleged the workers of the IYC amid their protest. 

In response to the outcry, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has established a Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) comprising experts to address concerns about the loss of exam time during NEET-UG 2024 at certain exam centres.

Candidates from NEET-UG 2024 filed writ petitions in the High Courts of Punjab & Haryana, Delhi, and Chhattisgarh, raising concerns about the conduct of the examination and the loss of time at various exam centres.

The NTA informed the courts that candidate representations would be resolved based on the recommendations of the newly formed Grievance Committee, ensuring that grievances are handled fairly and transparently.

The Grievance Redressal Committee reviewed complaints using factual reports from officials and CCTV footage from the affected exam centres. They determined the lost time and compensated affected candidates accordingly, based on their answering efficiency.

To address the lost exam time, the committee awarded compensatory marks to the affected candidates. This approach aimed to ensure that students were not disadvantaged due to circumstances beyond their control.

To address concerns regarding the allocation of compensatory marks and other issues, the NTA has formed additional committees to investigate and provide solutions, ensuring comprehensive and fair resolution of all grievances.

The Ministry of Education has set up a committee to review the grace marks awarded to over 1,500 candidates. 

Some candidates alleged that the inflation of marks resulted in an unusually high number of top ranks, including six candidates from the same exam centre in Haryana. This anomaly raised suspicions and calls for a thorough investigation.

The NTA denied any irregularities in the NEET-UG exam and attributed the record results to various factors, such as an easier exam, a surge in registrations, a question with two correct answers, and grace marks due to the loss of exam time.

A total of 20.38 lakh students registered for NEET-UG 2024, with 11.45 lakh candidates qualifying. 

In a surprising result, 67 students achieved an All India Rank (AIR) 1, including six from the same exam centre. This unprecedented outcome has intensified the demand for a detailed investigation into the exam's conduct and evaluation.

Amidst the controversies and student protests, there are growing calls for the government to address the legitimate complaints of the students and ensure that the NEET-UG examination process is fair, transparent, and free from irregularities.
