'Anupamaa' actor Rituraj Singh passes away at 59

Actor Rituraj Singh suffered a cardiac rest on Monday night. The news of his demise was confirmed by Amit Behl

Actor Rituraj Singh passed away at the age of 59. The actor, who made a strong impact with his performance in TV and films, suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday night. According to reports, he was suffering from issues related to his pancreas. 


Rituraj Singh was last seen on the TV show 'Anupamaa'. Amit Behl who was close friends with Singh confirmed the news of his demise. He told ETimes, "Yes he passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was admitted to a hospital some time back for treatment of pancreas returned home had some cardiac complications and passed away."


About Rituraj Singh:


Rituraj Singh has played impactful characters in several TV shows and films. He is known for his work in shows like 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai', 'Kutumb', 'Abhay 3' and 'Never Kiss Your Best Friend' among others. He was also a part of Rupali Ganguly's popular TV show 'Anupamaa'. On the big screen, he is well known for playing the ruthless father to Varun Dhawan's character in 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania'. He also worked in films like 'Hum Tum Aur Ghost', 'Satyameva Jayate 2, 'Thunivu', among others. 

Previously, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Rituraj talked about his journey in television and Bollywood.  “On the small screen, I have worked for all channels and every maker has repeated me multiple times. Now, the same thing is happening with OTT and films. Before I finish one, I have something or the other in hand," he shared.

“I started with a children’s theatre group when I was 12 years old and at 17, I joined profession group of Barry John. I did theatre with him for 12 years, thereafter two English films, and in 1993, I did my first TV show and kept doing for 25 years. Now, it’s all about films and digital space,” the actor added.
