Companies draft advisories for travel to swine flu-hit countries

Even though no case of swine flu has been detected in India as yet, companies, especially those with a global presence, are formulating travel advisories to guard their employees from the virus.

Even though no case of swine flu has been detected in India as yet, companies, especially those with a global presence, are formulating travel advisories to guard their employees from the virus.

"While the advisory for our US-based employees is in place, my team in Pune is still working on our advisory, which should be out in the next few days," said Prameela Kalive, V P and Global Head, Talent Management, an HR consultancy firm, in Zensar.

IBM's international travel restriction is a one-point advisory, which concerns employees entering Mexico "only persons with business or emergency work should enter the country."u00a0

"International travellers are also required to check with the appropriate country's government website about the spread of swine flu in the country before departure," said a source from IBM.

"We are not cancelling trips abroad, but we are asking our people to take necessary precautions," said Bani Dhawan, spokesperson for Infosys, Bangalore.

Anant Sardeshmukh, additional director general, Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture, Pune, stressed on the necessity for continuously monitoring countries where cases of swine flu have been detected. (Also see page 8)
